The Den on RTE

We have received an E-mail today from the IIHA asking if any of our children under the age of 15 from the club would be willing and able to attend an event in Charlestown rink in Dublin this Wednesday. The programme will run from 2pm until 5pm and will be aired on the popular tv shown The Den.

With this event being in Dublin any children who would be allowed to attend would have to take the day off School. This can only be done if the school give permission for you to take the day off, a letter to confirm that you are allowed to take the day off will have to be obtained before you go.

Parents must make their own way down with their child any LTP that need kits must let myself know before they go.

My I add that there is only a few places for this and it will be on a first come first serve basis.

This is a great opportunity to promote ice hockey in Ireland.

Training times for this Sunday are as follows:

4:45-5:45 Learn to play and Under 10s

5:45-6:45 Under 12s and Under14s

6:45-7:45 Under 16s and Under 18s

Charity Games Saturday 28th November

The Junior Belfast Giants have been invited to participate in a charity game on Saturday in Dundalk. Any children from the U14s age group that wish to participate in this charity event, (you will be  playing in a mixed team game) will have to be at Dundalk Ice Dome for 5.30pm on Saturday the cost of this is 2 Euro per player. The games will run from 6-6:45pm.

Practice for Friday 20th November cancelled

Just a reminder due to the Giants game there will be no training tonight, Friday 20th November.

Postponed Trip to Scotland

Just to confirm this with all members. The trip to Scotland had to be postponed due to The Dundalk Bulls pulling out at the last minute and also to Insurance documentation and IIHA registration confirmation letters  being too late to ice a Junior Belfast giants team only. We tried  in vain to get this sorted and unfortunately it was not done in time. I hope this clears up any confusions there may have been. These games are being rearranged and will take place at a later date.

Vice Chairperson Post

The Committe have added a new post of Vice Chairperson to the executive committee and have asked for nominations for this post. At the present time, one person has applied for this position, Donna Hardy.

Donna Hardy is the mother of 9 year old Daniel from the club. Donna has great negotiation and arbitration skills, and currently works for the Belfast Giants Fan Zone and has had experience being Chairperson of her trade Union where she is currently managing 200 members. Donna would bring fresh ideas and an outside view of Junior Ice Hockey with being new to the club, and has already made some fantastic suggestions on how to improve the club, stating that she would love to be part of this club in a more formal role. Donna has been around the Senior Giants from the start and with this, would be a perfect candidate for this position with knowledge of the game and already having a good working relationship with Todd Kelman. The position is still open and any other members who feel that they too would like to run for this position, please contact the club secretary, Kellie Ewen. The closing date for this is Wednesday 18th November. If no other members come forward for this position, it will automatically be given to Donna. If anyone else applies for the role, the Vice Chairperson will be decided upon at a members vote. 
We are still in need of members to come forward to help with:

• Kit management;
• Game Crew volunteers;
• And a child protection officer for each team.

This Sunday’s Games

• Ducks Vs Sharks 4:45-5:30.
• Penguins Vs Bruins 5:30-6:15.
• Under 14s, 16s  and 18s – due to some guys playing in Scotland this weekend the ones that are left will be split into teams and will also have games from 6:15.

All must be at Dundonald Ice Bowl one hour before their game!
